Shannon's oyster knives are top knotch and flawless; a true work of art. I purchased a Spalted Maple Sewee Shucker last year and it has tackled everything our west coast oysters can throw at it. I got a extra pointy tip which helps with even the toughest hinge. Looking forward to adding more of his work to my collection, especially the new Seabrook shucker. I highly recommend these shuckers, anyone on the fence, buy one now. -Colin at Humboldt Bay Oyster Company
Every knife made by Shannon Reed is a piece of art. Shannon is a thoughtful craftsman who puts a part of himself into each piece. The quality of his designs and level of attention to detail is obvious. I bought one of his oyster shuckers as a gift for someone who had everything, knowing a knife from Coastal Custom Knifeworks would be perfect. And, of course, it was.
Shannon made three oyster shucker for me a couple of years ago. They are high functioning pieces of art. Every roast we go to we are complimented on them. I just ordered three more for friends. Keep up the great work!!
Shannon has made 6 Amboyna Burl Sewee Shuckers and a single Black Cherry (with a Tiger Paw) Sewee Shuckers for me over the past few years. The craftsmanship and knife quality is just outstanding. We are an "oyster killing " group and we use nothing but his knives. Durable and beautiful, the hardest thing for us to do is not let them walk away with other people when the oyster roast is over
We've been carrying Shannon's knives in our shop for several years now, and his designs continue to get more and more interesting. He experiments with new blade shapes, and really creative handle materials--like pine cones set in resin, "war wood," and dyed box elder.
Shannon's got an incredible attention to detail, and collectors are noticing. We're proud to represent such a talented craftsman!
Shannon crafted three Sewee Shuckers for our family with curly koa handles. The fit and balance of the knives is amazing.I chose koa because we're Hawaiian and they are already family heirlooms.I always get asked where I got them at oyster roasts.Shannon is a true artist.
