Today is a sad day.......as it was my last of 10 weeks on the beginners painting course with Karen, Paloma and Harvey ( the dog). I have really enjoyed myself and learnt absolutely loads....about painting and myself oddly enough! Clearly I am not a ‘ finisher’ but hey ho....its nice to get the most of a short course by trying as many new things as you can. I have lots of examples, experiences and notes to look back on .... and look forward to meeting again. Maybe at a future course when my work life subsides again and maybe during an in promptu ‘plein air’ session this summer if any other students fancy?
Today I have mixed feelings!!! It's my last day of the 10-week course I started in January. I have mixed feelings because from one side I'm very happy to have had the chance of doing this course with such an amazing woman as is Karen. She is such a human, full of energy, enthusiastic and talented woman!! And from the other side I am sad because my Monday morning's are now going to be different..... During this course every Monday was different!!! We have painted so many different themes!!! I would have never imagined I could do still life painting!! THANK YOU so so much Karen! Thank you for your patience and respecting always ""our way" of painting! And encouraging us so much!! I'm sure going to miss you!!!! God bless! Hasta pronto! ❤️
Last year, I saw one of Karen's beach hut painting but it was too large for the space I was looking to fill. I made contact with Karen direct and she offered to scale the painting down to a box canvas 16"x16". All our contact either by telephone or email was so easy and friendly. I am now the proud owner of my new painting which I am delighted with.
I'm amazed about how far my acrylics painting has progressed (from novice!) under Karen's enthusiastic guidance and encouragement on aspects like composition, colour mixing and brush technique. Being in a friendly, small group means we get much-needed individual attention. Landscapes are my favourite but I now have the confidence to try my first-ever portrait. A thoroughly enjoyable course and I will join the next one that follows on from this one.
As a complete novice I was delighted to find Karen who has taught me so much during this first course. She combines guidance, criticism, encouragement and praise with good humour and genuine interest. Being in a small class with individual attention is a bonus. The studio is set up in a relaxed atmosphere with all the equipment required and advice is given on the purchasing, with discounts, of personal paint, canvas and brush requirements. Karen has given me the confidence to continue and improve and I can highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for tuition in this art. Her tea and biscuits are good too!
