Contacted Ben at Nellie supports and capacity assessments were completed and in my hand within 2 weeks. Ben was informative and helpful and Louise who visited was a pleasure to meet, reassuring and professional. Would definitely recommend anyone in the same situation.
My mum is 93 and has suffered from increasing symptoms of short term memory loss. She had a serious fall last year and despite our best efforts to keep her independence has had to go into a care home. Selling her house to pay for fees has proved to be a complete nightmare. Despite my power of attorney our conveyancing solicitor insisted on a mental capacity assessment and that this was done by a GP. Trying to find advice and help with this was frustrating to say the least; from the moment of her discharge from hospital I was completely on my own. Fortunately I found the Nellie Supports website - Ben gave me a wealth of advice on this subject and even phoned my solicitor to explain the current situation with mental capacity assessments - and that this did not have to be done by a GP.. Given the urgency to get this done so we could complete the house sale he visited my mum two days later (a long round trip) and sent me his report the next day. He also gave me advice on how to fund my mum's care and some useful contacts. I feel indebted to Nellie Supports for the help I've received and highly recommend them to anyone else in a similar situation.
We engaged Ben to carry out a mental capacity assessment for the purposes of a Deputyship Order. This was carried out professionally and in a very timely manner helping us to move the matter on after having difficulties with the client's own GP. Ben's assessment in fact showed that the client had capacity to put an LPA in place which has saved the family time and money. A very professional service at a reasonable cost and Ben has been very approachable and easy to deal with throughout. I would thoroughly recommend the services of Nellie Supports
I was pleased both with the ease of obtaining an assessment and that it was done over an Easter weekend at our home. The assessment itself was carried out professionally and with dignity.. It consisted of what appeared to be a polite conversation about simple matters and it was obvious my wife felt totally relaxed as she chatted away. The criteria were nicely explained in non-technical terms and the written report was submitted promptly.
Ben Slater, Managing director of Nellie Supports came to see my mum to assess her ability to understand and make decisions in line with the Mental health act. My mum is 94 and has many complex health problems and we wanted to be sure she could still make her own decisions despite her ill health and thus document accordingly. Ben was very kind to my mum and asked her all the relevant questions concerning her wishes for the future and her understanding of pertinent facts. He took the time to exchange in pleasant conversation with mum without distracting from the need for an accurate assessment. Mum understood why Ben had come to see her and actually enjoyed the visit. . It was refreshing to see his affinity with a very old lady. I would wholeheartedly recommend his services. He was punctual and efficient.
I contacted a number of companies before deciding to go with Nellie. I chose them because they were flexible, offered impartial advice and were extremely professional in their approach.
I had communication with a man named Ben Slater who was friendly, helpful and came to complete the assessment.
Yes, I would definitely recommend this company and use them again.
Mental Capacity Assessment - a stress-free experience
It was with some trepidation that we commissioned a Mental Capacity Assessment for my mother who has dementia. She's recently had an increasing number of different professionals coming in, asking her questions, carrying out assessments, all of which she finds increasingly stressful and disruptive.
The way Ben carried out the MCA was more like a friendly conversation than an assessment, even though there was a clear focus to the questions. (In fact mum later contradicted me when I mentioned the assessment saying "No it wasn't an assessment".)
Ben was able to elicit mum's reasons for the decision she is making, which I'd not heard her articulate before.
He arrived promptly, took no longer than needed but didn't rush, and the report was produced well within the 48 hours stated.
I would thoroughly recommend this company.
I was given the details of Nellie Supports from my solicitor as we needed a capacity assessment for my father. Ben got back to me straight away and arranged a visit to carry out the assessment within a couple of days. Ben spoke about getting advice on financial matters regarding care home fees and it has been reassuring to know that there is someone to contact regarding this minefield we find ourselves in.
I contacted Ben around 7pm as a friend of mine got in touch asking if I knew anywhere she could hire a wheelchair from as her grandmother had broken her hip and was struggling with the Zimmer frame the hospital insisted she used.
Even though we have mobility suppliers on our books, I believed they only sold new products, so my first contact was Ben who put me right and told me most mobility suppliers have equipment such as chairs for hire also. I now know!!
Anyway, long story short. Ben gave me a quick answer and so I contacted another member, Bentleys Nursing Supplies who was also on the ball and hopefully all now sorted.
Ben is always very helpful and I could fill up his review pages for the amount of times I have fired questions over to him and he has happily replied promtly with answers.
Thanks again Ben, top stuff!
