I was having some major slippage problems with my 2006 Mazda 3. While driving in 5th gear out of nowhere it would drop into 4th or 3rd gear and the AT light would come on. It seemed like it was getting pretty bad and I was worried it was going to do some permanent damage so I took it to about 5 places and had them hook up their diagnostic computers and see what was going on. None of them could find anything. They did all notice my transmission fluid was brunt and they all concluded it was something internal. That's when I took my car to Miramar Transmission. Frank was great in explaining what they would do to fix my car. This was the only place I went to that actually had all the equipment they would need to diagnose and fix my transmission on hand. He also said he would be able to give me a 3 year warranty on the new transmission which was far better than the 1 year warranty that Mazda offered me. So I decided to go with Frank and get my transmission fixed.
After a quick few days Frank called and said it was ready to go. So I went down to the place and picked up my car. Frank even brought out his tech to explain to me what they fixed and added to make sure it wouldn't happen again. So, gladly I paid my bill and headed home.
I got about a mile from the shop and my car hiccuped again. Same problem I had before... Needless to say, I wasn't too happy. I called Frank and told him what happened. He was shocked too because they had test drove the car 15 miles and didn't see anything. When I got back they immediately apologized and got to work to figure out what it was. Originally they had discovered pressure problems in the transmission and thought that was causing my problem. All the while I was worried that they would find something else and I would have to pay up. After doing some more research they found that my Transmission Control Module need to be updated. Frank said he would take the car down to Mazda himself to get it down and he gladly gave me a loaner car to use and assured me that I wouldn't have to pay anymore than I already had. They would take care of any other work needed. That was such a relief. I have heard so many horror stories of people getting ripped off by auto-shops. Its rare today to find a company that stands behind their work and guarantees to fix the problem they set out to fix. Even if it came up after they did their work.
It turned out that the entire TCM was bad and they had to install a brand new one. Miramar Transmission took care of everything. This was an amazing example of good customer service. Rare to find, but worth it. I highly recommend these guys if you ever have any problems with your transmission.
