Got my driving license in my first attempt! I’m Deaf, and English is not my first language. When I called to Academic Driving School, I was so anxious and worried. What is anxious is that I want to get my driving license in a short time, and what is worried is that they would refuse to provide services because of communication issues. I consulted other driving school before, but unfortunately they need to take two or three weeks later to make driving classes appointments. I was happy Academic driving school was the only one would be available in 2 weeks, and they honestly stated that they were the first time they have met a Deaf student to learn driving in this driving school, but they are willing to try their best to communicate with me. My instructor is very patient and creative. I brought a small whiteboard to write and draw for communication. Sometimes we use the voice-to-text of my phone to communicate. I ordered 6-hours classes and driving test services, and I’m satisfied these services! After I passed the driving test, I brought my suggestion about how to work with Deaf students in the future, they listened carefully to my suggestions and recorded then down. I appreciate it!!! THANK YOU!!!
